In Michigan, funding supports multiple juvenile-focused community policing programs across the state, which foster proactive, problem-oriented interventions to combat juvenile delinquency. As part of this effort, the County of Cheboygan, 53rd Circuit Court Family Division and Juvenile Probation collaborate to provide youth with 24/7 support, supervision, education, tools and empathy in an effort to help youth overcome their individual issues and remain in their communities. In 2017, the Kalamazoo Police Department launched the Bridging Opportunities summer program. The goal of the initiative is to have law enforcement and community partners work together to provide at-risk-youth with engaging, high-quality program opportunities during the summer to reduce recidivism, strengthen emotional skills, improve school attendance, behavior and academic performance.
