In Massachusetts, Byrne JAG funds support the implementation and evaluation of the state funded Senator Charles E. Shannon, Jr. Community Safety Initiative, which provides funding for localities to replicate the Office of Juvenile Delinquency Prevention’s Comprehensive Gang Prevention Model. After demonstrating a high level of gang violence and through a competitive grant process, funded sites develop programs designed for gang involved and high-risk youth that include outreach, education and vocational training and case management services.
