Byrne JAG funds support San Benito County in enhancing its task force model for enforcement while implementing the evidence-based Strengthening Families Program (SFP) in order to make an impact on the illegal and illicit drug trade that is often carried out by local criminal street gangs. SFP provides high-risk populations with evidence-based family and parenting skills training to reduce problem behaviors, delinquency, alcohol and drug abuse in children in an effort improve school performance and strengthen familial bonds. The goal is to interrupt the drug and arms trafficking which will in turn make the community safer.
