During this session, the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) will join us to discuss the National Decertification Index (NDI), which serves as a national registry of certificate or license revocation actions related to officer misconduct. By maintaining this registry, the NDI helps ensure that officers who have engaged in serious misconduct are not able to easily move between jurisdictions.

IADLEST also will share their insights on training standards and provide an overview of their National Certification Program (NCP), which ensures law enforcement agencies meet the highest standards of training and certification for officers across the country. NCJA worked alongside IADLEST to offer technical assistance on the Law Enforcement De-Escalation Training Act (LEDTA). Much of LEDTA’s framework is based on IADLEST's NCP.

Also joining us will be Melissa Nee with Brooks Bawden Moore to discuss the findings from their report, "Informing Law Enforcement De-escalation Training," which synthesizes insights from law enforcement leaders, mental health professionals, academic researchers, and public safety advocates on best practices in de-escalation training for law enforcement officers and mental health practitioners.
