One page description of Justice Information Sharing TTA provided by National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA), in collaboration with the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). With a focus on promoting and strengthening state level leadership and replicating best practices, NCJA delivers resources and remote and on-site TTA to enhance public safety and maximize justice information sharing (JIS) investments at the state, local and tribal levels.
The Mid-Atlantic Regional Justice Information Sharing Initiative (MARJIS) grew out of a Mid-Atlantic Regional Justice Information Sharing Forum sponsored by the MD Governor's Office of Crime Control & Prevention in June of 2012. The Forum showcased some initial efforts and success stories involving inter-state justice information sharing. As a result of the Forum, representatives from several States met in Philadelphia in September 2012 and from that meeting, three States, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland and the District of Columbia determined to pursue inter-state shared access to their respective justice information “portals”, a single source for justice information by authorized justice system users.
