    Dear NCJA members,
We just wanted you to be aware that the House and Senate have passed (and the President will sign) a one-week extension of the Continuing Resolution (CR) that was set to expire tonight at midnight.  By passing this bill, Members of Congress have averted a government shutdown and given themselves an extra week to tie up last minute details of the final FY17 appropriations bills.
This bill will expire at midnight next Friday, May 5.  While there has been some moderate posturing this week around issues that could force a showdown and a shutdown, everyone involved feels confident that a final bill will pass next week and the FY17 cycle will be done (only seven months late…).
